Virtually the entire cruise vacation industry has long shut down. FFR GmbH posed an exception and still had offers online.
On their website, “SPD-Reiseservice” advertised FFR cruise vacations for “members and friends of the SPD”, among them a “festive Christmas cruise between December 22nd and December 27th” with a whopping 80 percent discount. The adverstisement for the crusie promised “a Christmas together with your entire family and friends”.
Social distancing on the ship would have been both impossible and was apparently not intended. It would have still been illegal as the cruise was to take place on the river Rhine and not on the open sea.
FFR is to 100% owned by the German Social Democrat Party (SPD). Nadja Lüders is head of the FFR’s advisory board and general secretary of the SPD in North Rhine-Westfalia.
After breaking the story, the offer was taken down. It can still be viewed on Archive.org.
